ABOUT US
Who We Are
Butterfly Way Educare not only gives the children an excellent basic Educare but teaches them family principals and equips then to take their places in primary schools in due course. The children are fed three times a day, this being for some all the food they get.
Our History
Butterfly Way Educare and Crèche has been operating for the last past 10 years, caring for and educating children of all cultures within the community of Vrygrond, Capricorn, near Muizenberg.
Penny Way, the founder and principal, first started with refugee children in Muizenberg itself, but seeing the tremendous need in the area, relocated and runs the operation the from the link complex in Vrygrond and now has 40 children between the ages of 1 to 6 years under her care.
Our Vision
Vrygrond/Capricorn Park is one of the poorest areas in the Western Cape with about a 80% unemployment rate. Housing in the area is inadequate and TB, drug abuse and crime are endemic in the community. Child abuse is rife.
The vision is to serve this community and surrounding areas by providing care and education for those who cannot afford more than minimal fees, if anything at all. We reach out to the needy, giving counseling to both children and parents and the provision of food and clothing is part and parcel of our mission.
